Schedule - Additional Comments
The schedule presented on the previous page is tentative and subject to change. It is displayed to give a general sense of the flow of the tournament.
Tournament Check-In:
Monday afternoon/evening: 4:00 to 6:00 pm
- We encourage as many students as possible to Check-In at this time. This will alleviate much of the rush on Tuesday morning and allow you some time to familiarize yourself with the campus.
- It is expected that Extemp students will have access to the Extemp Prep room during this time. You may drop off your Extemp boxes on Monday afternoon to save time on Tuesday morning.
Tuesday morning for all events:
The specific cut-off time (11:00 am) will be a firm cut off for all Individual Event students. This is necessary to allow Tab to set up the events and check for seeding priorities.
Speech Schedule:
Three rounds of Individual Events separated into Pattern A and Pattern B. All events with significant registration numbers will proceed to Quarterfinals. All events will advance to Semifinals and Finals.
Debate Schedule:
Six preliminary rounds. All teams with a winning record (4 - 2 or better) will advance to outrounds.
Lincoln Douglas Debate
LD debates will be flighted during prelim rounds. This means one-half of the debates will occur during the first half of the Debate Pattern (Flight 1) and the other one-half of the debates will occur during the second half of the Debate Pattern (Flight 2).
All four LD debaters are expected to be present at the beginning of the round. Debaters in Flight 1 may request one of the Flight 2 debaters to time the round. The Flight 2 debaters may also request one of the Flight 1 debaters to time the round. Both Flight 1 debaters are expected to be present for the Flight 2 debate unless everyone is agreed that one or both of the debaters may be excused.
If a Flight 2 student is not in attendance for the Flight 1 debate, the student will forfeit the round. The same will be true for Flight 1 students not in attendance during the Flight 2 round.
